The Saga of TreasuryGate

This summary is intended to supplement information appearing in the Spotlight newspaper in 1993. I first heard the term TreasuryGate on a radio broadcast by Tom Valentine on Radio Free America in 1992. TreasuryGate is a term coined by Tommy L. Buckley after coming into possession of sixteen "certificates of obligation" issued jointly (and unconstitutionally) by the US Treasury and the private Federal Reserve Corporation. These certificates were issued during the 50's and 60's mostly to foreign heads of state and other people of foreign countries, most of latter becoming heads of state. Most countries were third world nations, and one was a self proclaimed enemy state, Cuba. A certificate went to Heng Samrin, a future leader of another country that would fall to Communism, Cambodia. Another went to brutal tyrant Idi Amien of Uganda. Although conjectural, one might expect that the US government expected some form of cooperation from these individuals and their countries. It appears that the US supported them as long as they played ball, and pulled out the rug when they quit cooperating. Only one of these countries under the name on the certificate still has the support of the USA: Hosni Mubarak's Egypt. One may wonder about Cuba. Fidel Castro, the recipient of two certificates, and though never cooperative, is still in power.

These certificates were made out for billions of $, the smallest being made out to Sadam Hussein for $33B.

Though not payable in cash, the certificates could be used for credit or hypothecation. Tommy Buckley and two others presented the Sadam Hussein certificate at a Federal Reserve Bank for authentication. Later that day all 16 certificates were confiscated at gunpoint by Secret Service agents. Tommy Buckley believes that if an unexpected party were not present in their hotel room when they were raided, they would have been shot and killed on the spot. If the certificates were bogus as claimed by the Treasury Dept. they would never taken this drastic action. Photocopies of all 16 certificates have been circulated. David Guyatt from the UK has a wealth of material on these certificates as well as certificates from other banks on his website, www.deepblacklies.co.uk. The website also has several e-books including Project Hammer and The Secret Gold Treaty which can be downloaded for free.

After their use by the original owners, the US/FRB certificates as well as a hundred or so other certificates from various national and private banks came into the possession of Indonesian businessman and civil servant Dr. Edison Damanik. This transfer was supposedly facilitated by the CIA. These other certificates, some of which were of pre-WWII vintage, were made out to various people and heads of states in different countries. Although many recipients had not yet attained any degree of prominence, they nonetheless became heads of state. An example of one such person was physician Patrick J. Hillery who became president of Ireland. He had received certificates from several different banks while working as a physician. Many of these other bank certificates as well as one US/FRB certificate can be viewed on David Guyatt's website.

It appears that most of these certificates can still be hypothecated many years after their initial use by the original assignees. Their current value which may have increased by accrued interest is demonstrated by the extraordinary efforts by various interests in attempting to gain control over them. A certificate belonging to Mr. Buckley was actually stolen from a bank safety deposit box. It appears that issuers of certificates have attempted to provide themselves deniability by making them appear phony with incorrect spellings of names of, or incorrect titles of recipients. For instance Sadam Hussein's name was spelled with two d's, and the Emperor of Japan was addressed as Mr. Hirohito.

Unable to negotiate any of these certificates in his own country, Dr. Damanik approached several American businessmen for help. Finally, Tommy L. Buckley, an oil man from Texas agreed to try. After many attempts to negotiate them, Dr. Damanik assigned the certificates to Mr. Buckley. After returning to Indonesia, Dr. Damanik died. Mr. Buckley attempted an unsuccessful lawsuit against the Treasury and the FRB.

To help Dr. Damanik's widow and to fund a number of humanitarian projects, Tommy Buckley has attempted many legal and other actions to hypothecate or otherwise utilize the many bank certificates he still holds. So far (as of December 2006) he has been unsuccessful. Apparently this is a nearly impossible task for anyone outside the "syndicate". He has been threatened, intimidated and poisoned, but he is still trying!

A study of the certificates shows that many other nations besides the USA, and/or banking and other interests therein, are engaged in trying to further their agendas. Among these nations are Canada, France, the UK, Japan, Hong Kong and Switzerland. Most of the certificates that I am aware of were issued by Japanese banks. Among the many countries receiving certificates not all turned out badly for their people. Emperor Hirohito, Hosni Mubarak and Mahatmas Ghandi provided positive influences in their respective countries. Others such as Ferdnand Marcos led their countries in a positive direction for awhile, and then turned negative. To sum it up, one observer of the situation wrote: From my perspective, the sheer amount of "players" in this certificate business is beyond overwhelming.

New Aragon

In his quest to resolve and redeem the certificates of obligation, Tommy Buckley came into contact with many bankers, both famous and infamous. Although he never met him, he had dealings with colleagues of a recently deceased banker, Lucius Knight (White Knight) McFarlane. Perhaps better known was his son Bob McFarlane, of the "Iran-Contra" scandal during the Reagan Administration.

During the 80's the elder McFarlane was one of the ram-rods behind the push to establish a new country or principality to serve as a tax haven for the rich as well as a banking center. It was to be established on three widely separated islands, one in the West Indies on the Island of Barbuda (negotiations were under way to purchase half the island) one on a barrier island off the coast of North Carolina (arrangements with the state were progressing) and the a yet to be determined island in the south Pacific, perhaps one of the many Indonesan islands.

The actual name of the country was to be The Sovereign Order of New Aragon. They had lined several Europeans with titles of nobility to be the titular heads of the government, a flag, a national anthem, and even designs for the plates and napkins. Applications for citizenship were on file.

Before the principality could be established, Mr. McFarlane died suddenly under unusual circumstances. It is my theory that another banking enclave in competition to the City of London could not be tolerated. The City of London, roughly the area of the old Roman city, is surrounded by Greater London, and appears to be an integral part of it. Many British do not realize that "The City" is not a part of the UK. When the Queen visits, she bows to the Lord Mayor of London.

Today it is still considered a "humiliating mess" in Barbuda that the deal fell through. Having had high hopes of Barbuda becoming the tax haven of tax havens, they now believe its promoters included gangsters.  Attempts to form the Principalities of Hutt River Province and Camside in Australia have fared no better.

His anything-goes approach has spread through journalism like a contagion. Now it threatens to undermine the influence he so covets.

The hacking scandal currently shaking Rupert Murdoch’s empire will surprise only those who have willfully blinded themselves to that empire’s pernicious influence on journalism in the English-speaking world. Too many of us have winked in amusement at the salaciousness without considering the larger corruption of journalism and politics promulgated by Murdoch Culture on both sides of the Atlantic.

The facts of the case are astonishing in their scope. Thousands of private phone messages hacked, presumably by people affiliated with the Murdoch-owned News of the World newspaper, with the violated parties ranging from Prince William and actor Hugh Grant to murder victims and families of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The arrest of Andy Coulson, former press chief to Prime Minister David Cameron, for his role in the scandal during his tenure as the paper’s editor. The arrest (for the second time) of Clive Goodman, the paper’s former royals editor. The shocking July 7 announcement that the paper would cease publication three days later, putting hundreds of employees out of work. Murdoch’s bid to acquire full control of cable-news company BSkyB placed in jeopardy. Allegations of bribery, wiretapping, and other forms of lawbreaking—not to mention the charge that emails were deleted by the millions in order to thwart Scotland Yard’s investigation.

All of this surrounding a man and a media empire with no serious rivals for political influence in Britain—especially, but not exclusively, among the conservative Tories who currently run the country. Almost every prime minister since the Harold Wilson era of the 1960s and ’70s has paid obeisance to Murdoch and his unmatched power. When Murdoch threw his annual London summer party for the United Kingdom’s political, journalistic, and social elite at the Orangery in Kensington Gardens on June 16, Prime Minister Cameron and his wife, Sam, were there, as were Labour leader Ed Miliband and assorted other cabinet ministers.

Murdoch associates, present and former—and his biographers—have said that one of his greatest long-term ambitions has been to replicate that political and cultural power in the United States. For a long time his vehicle was the New York Post—not profitable, but useful for increasing his eminence and working a wholesale change not only in American journalism but in the broader culture as well. Page Six, emblematic in its carelessness about accuracy or truth or context—but oh-so-readable—became the model for the gossipization of an American press previously resistant to even considering publishing its like. (Murdoch accomplished a similar debasement of the airwaves in the 1990s with the—tame by today’s far-lower standards—tabloid television show A Current Affair.)

Then came the unfair and imbalanced politicized “news” of the Fox News Channel—showing (again) Murdoch’s genius at building an empire on the basis of an ever-descending lowest journalistic denominator. It, too, rests on a foundation that has little or nothing to do with the best traditions and values of real reporting and responsible journalism: the best obtainable version of the truth. In place of this journalistic ideal, the enduring Murdoch ethic substitutes gossip, sensationalism, and manufactured controversy.

And finally, in 2007 The Wall Street Journal’s squabbling family owners succumbed to his acumen, willpower, and money, fulfilling Murdoch’s dream of owning an American newspaper to match the influence and prestige of his U.K. holding, The Times of London—one that really mattered, at the topmost tier of journalism.

Between the Post, Fox News, and the Journal, it’s hard to think of any other individual who has had a greater impact on American political and media culture in the past half century.

But now the empire is shaking, and there’s no telling when it will stop. My conversations with British journalists and politicians—all of them insistent on speaking anonymously to protect themselves from retribution by the still-enormously powerful mogul—make evident that the shuttering of News of the World, and the official inquiries announced by the British government, are the beginning, not the end, of the seismic event.

News International, the British arm of Murdoch’s media empire, “has always worked on the principle of omertà: ‘Do not say anything to anybody outside the family, and we will look after you,’ ” notes a former Murdoch editor who knows the system well. “Now they are hanging people out to dry. The moment you do that, the omertà is gone, and people are going to talk. It looks like a circular firing squad.”

News of the World was always Murdoch’s “baby,” one of the largest newspapers in the English-speaking world, with 2.6 million readers. As anyone in the business will tell you, the standards and culture of a journalistic institution are set from the top down, by its owner, publisher, and top editors. Reporters and editors do not routinely break the law, bribe policemen, wiretap, and generally conduct themselves like thugs unless it is a matter of recognized and understood policy. Private detectives and phone hackers do not become the primary sources of a newspaper’s information without the tacit knowledge and approval of the people at the top, all the more so in the case of newspapers owned by Rupert Murdoch, according to those who know him best.

As one of his former top executives—once a close aide—told me, “This scandal and all its implications could not have happened anywhere else. Only in Murdoch’s orbit. The hacking at News of the World was done on an industrial scale. More than anyone, Murdoch invented and established this culture in the newsroom, where you do whatever it takes to get the story, take no prisoners, destroy the competition, and the end will justify the means.”

“In the end, what you sow is what you reap,” said this same executive. “Now Murdoch is a victim of the culture that he created. It is a logical conclusion, and it is his people at the top who encouraged lawbreaking and hacking phones and condoned it.”

Could Murdoch eventually be criminally charged? He has always surrounded himself with trusted subordinates and family members, so perhaps it is unlikely. Though Murdoch has strenuously denied any knowledge at all of the hacking and bribery, it’s hard to believe that his top deputies at the paper didn’t think they had a green light from him to use such untraditional reportorial methods. Investigators are already assembling voluminous records that demonstrate the systemic lawbreaking at News of the World, and Scotland Yard seems to believe what was happening in the newsroom was endemic at the highest levels at the paper and evident within the corporate structure. Checks have been found showing tens of thousands of dollars of payments at a time.

For this reporter, it is impossible not to consider these facts through the prism of Watergate. When Bob Woodward and I came up against difficult ethical questions, such as whether to approach grand jurors for information (which we did, and perhaps shouldn’t have), we sought executive editor Ben Bradlee’s counsel, and he in turn called in the company lawyers, who gave the go-ahead and outlined the legal issues in full. Publisher Katharine Graham was informed. Likewise, Bradlee was aware when I obtained private telephone and credit-card records of one of the Watergate figures.

All institutions have lapses, even great ones, especially by individual rogue employees—famously in recent years at The Washington Post, The New York Times, and the three original TV networks. But can anyone who knows and understands the journalistic process imagine the kind of tactics regularly employed by the Murdoch press, especially at News of the World, being condoned at the Post or the Times?

And then there’s the other inevitable Watergate comparison. The circumstances of the alleged lawbreaking within News Corp. suggest more than a passing resemblance to Richard Nixon presiding over a criminal conspiracy in which he insulated himself from specific knowledge of numerous individual criminal acts while being himself responsible for and authorizing general policies that routinely resulted in lawbreaking and unconstitutional conduct. Not to mention his role in the cover-up. It will remain for British authorities and, presumably, disgusted and/or legally squeezed News Corp. executives and editors to reveal exactly where the rot came from at News of the World, and whether Rupert Murdoch enabled, approved, or opposed the obvious corruption that infected his underlings.

None of this is to deny Murdoch’s competitive genius, his superior understanding of the modern media marketplace, or his dead-on reading of popular culture. He has made occasionally dull newspapers fun to read and TV news broadcasts fun to watch, and few of us would deny there are days when we love it. He’s been at his best when he’s come in from the outside: starting Sky News, which shook up a complacent British broadcasting establishment; contradicting conventional American media wisdom that a fourth TV network (Fox) could never get off the ground; reducing the power of Britain’s printing trade unions that were exercising a stranglehold on the U.K. press.

But Murdoch and his global media empire have a lot to answer for. He has not merely encouraged the metastasis of cutthroat tabloid journalism on both sides of the Atlantic. But perhaps just as troubling, authorities in Britain may respond to popular outrage at the scandal by imposing the kind of regulations that cannot help but undermine a truly free press.

The events of recent days are a watershed for Britain, for the United States, and for Rupert Murdoch. Tabloid journalism—and our tabloid culture—may never be the same.

What is ALEC?

ALEC is not a lobby; it is not a front group. It is much more powerful than that. Through ALEC, behind closed doors, corporations hand state legislators the changes to the law they desire that directly benefit their bottom line. Along with legislators, corporations have membership in ALEC. Corporations sit on all nine ALEC task forces and vote with legislators to approve “model” bills. They have their own corporate governing board which meets jointly with the legislative board. (ALEC says that corporations do not vote on the board.) Corporations fund almost all of ALEC's operations. Participating legislators, overwhelmingly conservative Republicans, then bring those proposals home and introduce them in statehouses across the land as their own brilliant ideas and important public policy innovations—without disclosing that corporations crafted and voted on the bills. ALEC boasts that it has over 1,000 of these bills introduced by legislative members every year, with one in every five of them enacted into law. ALEC describes itself as a “unique,” “unparalleled” and “unmatched” organization. We agree. It is as if a state legislature had been reconstituted, yet corporations had pushed the people out the door.

Who funds ALEC?

More than 98% of ALEC's revenues come from sources other than legislative dues, such as corporations, corporate trade groups, and corporate foundations. Each corporate member pays an annual fee of between $7,000 and $25,000 a year, and if a corporation participates in any of the nine task forces, additional fees apply, from $2,500 to $10,000 each year. ALEC also receives direct grants from corporations, such as $1.4 million from ExxonMobil from 1998-2009. It has also received grants from some of the biggest foundations funded by corporate CEOs in the country, such as: the Koch family Charles G. Koch Foundation, the Koch-managed Claude R. Lambe Foundation, the Scaife family Allegheny Foundation, the Coors family Castle Rock Foundation, to name a few. Less than 2% of ALEC’s funding comes from “Membership Dues” of $50 per year paid by state legislators, a steeply discounted price that may run afoul of state gift bans.

Is it nonpartisan as claimed?

ALEC describes itself as a non-partisan, non-profit organization. The facts show that it currently has one Democrat out of 104 legislators in leadership positions. ALEC members, speakers, alumni, and award winners are a “who’s who” of the extreme right. ALEC has given awards to: Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, George H.W. Bush, Charles and David Koch, Richard de Vos, Tommy Thompson, Gov. John Kasich, Gov. Rick Perry, Congressman Mark Foley (intern sex scandal), and Congressman Billy Tauzin. ALEC alumni include: Speaker of the House John Boehner, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Congresswoman Michelle Bachman, Congressman Joe Wilson, (who called President Obama a “liar” during the State of the Union address), former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, former House Speaker Tom DeLay, Andrew Card, Donald Rumsfeld (1985 Chair of ALEC’s Business Policy Board), Governor Scott Walker, Governor Jan Brewer, and more. Featured speakers have included: Milton Friedman, Newt Gingrich, Dick Cheney, Dan Quayle, George Allen, Jessie Helms, Pete Coors, Governor Mitch Daniels and more.

What goes on behind closed doors?

The organization boasts 2,000 legislative members and 300 or more corporate members. The unelected corporate representatives (often registered lobbyists) sit as equals with elected representatives on nine task forces where they have a “voice and a vote” on model legislation. Corporate and legislative governing boards meet jointly each year. (ALEC says only the legislators have a final say on all model bills. ALEC has previously said that "The policies are debated and voted on by all members. Public and private members vote separately on policy. It is important to note that laws are not passed, debated or adopted during this process and therefor no lobbying takes place. That process is done at the state legislature.") The long-term representation of Koch Industries on the governing board means that Koch has had influence over an untold number of ALEC bills. Due to the questionable nature of this partnership with corporations, legislators rarely discuss the origins of the model legislation they bring home. Though thousands of ALEC-approved model bills have been publicly introduced across the country, ALEC’s role facilitating the language in the bills and the corporate vote for them is not well known.

ALEC legislators sometimes compare the organization to the National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL), yet the two organizations could not be more different. NCSL has zero corporate members. It is funded largely by state government appropriations and conference fees; it has a truly bipartisan governance structure, and there is a large role for nonpartisan professional staff; it does not vote on or promote model legislation; meetings are public and so are any agreed upon documents. Corporations do sponsor receptions at NCSL events through a separate foundation.

How do corporations benefit?

Although ALEC claims to take an ideological stance (of supposedly "Jeffersonian principles of free markets, limited government, federalism, and individual liberty"), many of the model bills benefit the corporations whose agents write them and vote to approve them. These are just a few such measures:

• Altria/Philip Morris USA benefits from ALEC’s newest tobacco legislation -- an extremely narrow tax break for moist tobacco that would make fruit flavored tobacco products cheaper and more attractive to youngsters.
• Health insurance companies such as Humana and Golden Rule Insurance (United Healthcare), benefit directly from ALEC model bills, such as the Health Savings Account bill that just passed in Wisconsin.
• Tobacco firms such as Reynolds and pharmaceutical firms such as Bayer benefit directly from ALEC tort reform measures that make it harder for Americans to sue when injured by dangerous products.
• Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) benefits directly from the anti-immigrant legislation introduced in Arizona and other states that requires expanded incarceration and housing of immigrants, along with other bills from ALEC’s crime task force.
• Connections Academy, a large online education corporation and co-chair of the Education Task Force, benefits from ALEC measures to privatize public education and promote private on-line schools.

How do legislators benefit?

Why would a legislator be interested in advancing cookie-cutter bills that are corporate give-aways for global firms located outside of their district? ALEC’s appeal rests largely on the fact that legislators receive an all-expenses-paid trip that provides many part-time legislators with vacations that they could not afford on their own, along with the opportunity to rub shoulders with wealthy captains of industry (major prospective out-of-state donors to their political campaigns). For a few hours of work on a task force and a couple of indoctrination sessions by ALEC experts, part-time legislators can bring the whole family to ALEC’s annual convention, work for a few hours, then stay in swank hotels, attend cool parties -- even strip clubs-- and raise funds for the campaign coffer, all heavily subsidized by the corporate till. In 2009, ALEC spent $251,873 on childcare so mom and dad could have fun.

Is it lobbying?

In most ordinary people's view, handing bills to legislators so they can introduce them is the very definition of lobbying. ALEC says "no lobbying takes place." The current chairman of ALEC’s corporate board is W. Preston Baldwin III, until recently a lobbyist and the Vice President of State Government Affairs at UST Inc., a tobacco firm now owned by Altria/Phillip Morris USA. Altria is advancing a very short, specific bill to change the way moist tobacco products (such as fruit flavored “snus”) are taxed-- to make it cheaper and more attractive to young tobacco users according to health experts. In fact, 20 of the 24 corporate representatives on ALEC’s “Private Enterprise Board” are lobbyists representing major firms such as Koch Industries, Bayer, GlaxoSmithKline, Wal-Mart and Johnson and Johnson.

ALEC makes old-fashioned lobbying obsolete. Once legislators return to their state with corporate-sponsored ALEC legislation in hand, the legislators themselves become “super-lobbyists” for ALEC’s corporate agenda, cutting out the middleman. Yet ALEC enjoys a 501(c)(3) classification, which allows it to keep its tax-exempt status while accepting grants from foundations, corporations, and other donors. In our view, the activities that corporate members engage in should be considered lobbying by the IRS, and the entity that facilitates that effort to influence state law, ALEC, should also be considered to be engaged predominantly in lobby-related activities, not simply “educational” activities. Re-classifying ALEC as primarily engaged in lobbying facilitation would mean that donations to it would not count as tax-deductible for businesses and foundations.

Is it legal?

ALEC’s operating model raises many ethical and legal concerns. Each state has a different set of ethics laws or rules. The presence of lobbyists alone may cause ethics problems for some state legislators. Wisconsin, for instance, generally requires legislators who go to events with registered lobbyists to pay on their own dime, yet in many states, legislators use public funds to attend ALEC meetings. According to one study, $3 million in public funds was spent to attend ALEC meetings in one year. Some legislators use their personal funds and are reimbursed by ALEC. Such “scholarships” may be disclosed if gifts are required to be reported. But should the legislators be allowed to accept this money when lobbyists are present at the meeting? Still other legislators use their campaign funds to go and are again reimbursed by ALEC; in some states, campaign funds are only allowed to be used to attend campaign events.

In short, many state ethics codes might consider the free vacation, steeply discounted membership fees, free day care or travel scholarships to be “gifts” that should be disallowed or disclosed.

Beloved Ones, we bring you this message to reassure you that you are on the right track and the direction you are moving in is taking you to a place of renewed self-discovery. Each cycle of change is an opportunity of release and renewal, which is where you are at now. From deep within there is a voice calling to be heard, calling from a place inside of you previously unexplored. You are being called to enter this realm of self, for in so doing you will discover a new template; a new design for the future.

Many have attempted to change the world; however, most have failed because the drive to do so is still covered in many layers of illusion and fear. We are preparing you to embark upon a journey into a new dimension of self, a journey that shall show you you are not what you think you are. What you will discover will open your heart, mind and eyes as to why it is the world remains trapped in the realm of fear, pain and suffering.

Different attitudes give birth to the many perspectives from which life is lived, valued and evaluated. Things cannot change if the foundation remains the same. We are announcing to you that the time has come for a new foundation to be laid, one that holds within it’s core the natural laws and codes to life. The truth hidden within these laws are many. Within each truth there are codes which unlock in a sacred sequence, based on the level of love and wisdom attained by the soul following the Pathway to Freedom. No soul may access such truths if their heart is clouded by the darkness of illusion, delusion and fear.

It is not by chance that your eyes fall upon my words, it is not by chance that you have reached a point in your life where you crave a different experience. Your craving has given rise to a truth which has emerged from the depths of your soul so that you can reclaim the right to fully embrace and live within your light – your truth. Truths vary as much as attitudes and perspectives. However, the Universal Truths remain unchanged and their essence contains a thread which weaves it’s way through the hearts and minds of humans until the Truth Seekers recognize the essence caressing their soul to awaken further.

The awakening of the Truth Seekers give rise to a movement, urging the Collective Soul of humanity to shift and embrace an opportunity to turn the tide of experience and embrace life from a new angle. Nothing will change if things remain as they are. This means, all of life as it is currently experienced, will continue running the treadmill of war, pain and suffering until enough of you make a conscious choice to take action and make the necessary change within.

This is your moment to do just this. This is your opportunity to stand up and tackle your fear head on and see for yourself that many of the fearsome “monsters” lurking within the shadows of darkness of the unknown are, in fact, the rejected aspects of your authentic self seeking acceptance and acknowledgment. When you face it, it has no power to control you, for then you are aware of what you are dealing with. Knowledge is power.

It is time to embark upon a new journey, one that will prove to you that you are far greater than your fears and insecurities, and that by meeting yourself – your unknown self, will empower and liberate you in ways you cannot as yet imagine.

We are preparing these Pathways for you, which shall lead to your Palace of Peace; a place where your power lies waiting for you to come and reclaim it. For in Peace the power to all life is revived and effective change is actioned and manifested. Peace is the point of stillness within which allows new life to form, grow and birth into something unique and extraordinary.

Take a chance, all you have to lose is what no longer supports you and have it replaced with something completely new and deeply rewarding.

SHANGHAI — President Barack Obama is meeting with the Dalai Lama — a fellow Nobel Peace laureate — and China isn't happy.

The Tibetan spiritual leader has been in Washington for an 11-day Buddhist ritual. Thousands of expatriate Tibetans joined a 76th birthday celebration Wednesday for the Dalai Lama, who's just relinquished leadership of Tibet's government-in-exile.

The White House said Saturday's private meeting in the Map Room shows Obama's support for preserving Tibet's culture and protecting human rights.

A Chinese crackdown led the Dalai Lama to flee into exile in India in 1959. China says he's welcome to return if he drops his separatist activities, accepts Tibet as an inalienable part of China and recognizes Taiwan as a province of China.

On Satirday, China urged the United States to cancel the 30-minute meeting, saying such a meeting would be harmful to U.S.-China relations.

"We firmly oppose any senior foreign government officials meeting with the Dalai Lama in any way," Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said in a statement on the ministry's website.

Hong said China called on the United States to "cancel the decision for Obama to meet the Dalai Lama as soon as possible, and not do anything that could interfere with China's internal affairs or harm China-U.S. relations.

Beijing earlier warned the United States to stay out of its affairs last week after top lawmakers including Republican House Speaker John Boehner and Democrat Nancy Pelosi met the Dalai Lama during his 10-day visit to Washington.

"This meeting underscores the president's strong support for the preservation of Tibet's unique religious, cultural and linguistic identity and the protection of human rights for Tibetans," the White House said in a statement issued on Friday.

Obama last met the Dalai Lama in February 2010, in a visit that drew a strong denunciation from Beijing.

Saturday's White House meeting comes at an extra sensitive moment for China, the United States' biggest creditor, with leaders in Washington at odds over how to raise the $14.3 trillion U.S. debt ceiling in time to avoid default.

China holds more than $1 trillion in U.S. Treasury debt and would be particularly exposed should Congress fail to reach a deal by Aug. 2. A U.S. default could rocket up interest rates, sink the value of the U.S. dollar and hurt the global economy.

Beijing has urged Washington to "adopt responsible policies and measures to guarantee the interests of investors." Obama has asked for congressional leaders to give him proposals by Saturday on how to advance talks on a deal.

Today on the Gregorian date July 13, 2011 begins the Fourth night of the Ninth wave. To me this night really seems like the last time period available for us to prepare for the relatively dramatic scenario that will lead up to the culmination of the Mayan calendar on October 28, 2011. I have outlined some of my basic views of what This transformation towards unity consciousness brought by the Ninth wave, with simultaneous consequences on many levels of the universe, I have described in a series of articles available on www.calleman.com and www.mayanninthwave.com. In this fourth night it is thus high time that we ask our instincts if we are in the right place to participate in this culmination scenario. It is also important to ask ourselves if what we are doing now is preparing us for what we are to do in the “post-end time world” (quite a paradoxical concept). Unfortunately, because so many people have been deluded by New Age “researchers” to believe that the Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012 it seems clear that only a small minority of people in the world will realize the urgency of the matter.

A couple of months ago I expressed my expectation that the Fifth day, beginning on July 31, 2011, will bring a global economic collapse, which would be the start of this end time scenario. What is going on now in this regard is that the European banks is still trying to find a solution for the Greek debt crisis by the end of July and a few days later, August 2, the decision will be made in the US whether to raise the lending ceiling or not. Meanwhile, increasing focus is placed on Italy, whose national debt in relationship to its GDP is almost as high (120%) as that of Greece (140%), but whose economy is seven times larger with correspondingly much larger potential consequences of a default on debt payments. A very delicate situation is thus already arising at the beginning of the fifth day and it remains to be seen if more money can be printed to avert a collapse.

Because it could be so painful a global financial collapse would seem to many to be a destructive event and hence not likely to occur in a period of light, a day. The economic system of the world is however probably the greatest obstacle to the development of unity consciousness that exists on our planet. I think it can even be said that a collapse of the world’s financial structure is a pre-requisite for us to be able to craft relationships of oneness between ourselves. For this reason it is not unlikely that such a collapse would occur in a day and then especially in the fifth day, which is the particular day that in the waves brings the breakthrough energy to the new frame of consciousness. Unity consciousness is thus likely to be perceived as a threat to many persons in economically dominant positions and this is part of the reason that so powerful media interests have sought to delude people about the Mayan calendar and postpone its true end date, October 28, 2011.

It is thus relevant to look a little bit more closely at what unity consciousness is. Sometimes oneness, or unity consciousness, is then presented as a mere mental concept as if it were something we only had to realize in our mind to see manifested. Some teachers are arguing that since we are entangled in a quantum mechanical sense we are all one. I feel such statements are so trivial that they are meaningless to make. Of course, we are all one in the sense that all humans are the products of the same reality and totally interconnected in this. Yet, a mere mental realization of a concept or a spiritual insight is not enough for us to actually experience oneness and anchor it in reality. Unity consciousness is something we need to craft and work with to see manifested through the support of this Ninth wave and again it may only be possible to do so after a global monetary collapse. The point to realize is that oneness is not an attribute of ourselves as individuals, but of our relationships to others and the divine.

To see the role of the monetary system in this let us take a look at how this currently works: Basically, in the modern world there are places called ‘banks” that have computers in which many people have so-called “accounts”. In the accounts of these computers there are numbers, which are measures (in the US given as dollars) of how much “money” you own. A large proportion of humanity in fact does not have any such “account”, whereas some people may have 10.000 ($) associated with it. Others may have 10.000.000 or even 10.000.000.000 ($) associated with their names in these bank computers. Moreover, for a large number of people these numbers are negative because the banks have “lended” “money” to them. Thus there are huge differences in these numbers for different people despite the fact that people work approximately the same amount of time everywhere. Sometimes the numbers may be related to a service done by someone to the planet, but more often than not it is the other way around. Those that cause the most damage to our planet in fact often have the highest numbers in these bank computers. Regardless, the point to realize is that the numbers in these bank computers more than anything else defines a power structure, where those with high numbers dominate those with low or negative numbers. Money has no real existence, but the legal definitions of a society maintains a system of dominance based on these computer numbers.

These numbers in the bank computers (Obviously the same applies to stocks, funds etc) define the power structures of our societies and determine almost all human relationships, what we as a species do and focus on in our life on earth. There are of course some minor exceptions, but in the overall picture it is true that the measures given to each individual in these bank computers determine human life in its totality. With such a monetary system it seems obvious that unity consciousness cannot exist in a real sense, simply because those that have high numbers in the bank computers dominate and decide what the others are to do, and how they are to spend their time, and such dominance is inconsistent with oneness. The current monetary system is simply not consistent with the unity consciousness that is developed by the Ninth wave and its days and this is the reason that I suspect that a global financial collapse would happen on a day and especially on this fifth day of the ninth wave.

We may also realize that if this monetary system collapses we would for the first time be fully sovereign souls and totally responsible for what we create. Here would be no one to blame and project our negativity on if the power structure defined by these bank computers disappeared. The consequence would be that we all become fully responsible for the course of events not only regarding what we do as individuals, but also as a collective. For those taking such a path such a responsible course of action will flow from unity consciousness with the divine and all of its manifestations of life.

Barack Obama meets the Dalai Lama at the White House

China had called on US to rescind the invitation to the Tibetan spiritual leader, warning it could sour relations with Beijing

President Barack Obama held a White House meeting with the Dalai Lama, a fellow Nobel Peace Prize laureate, hours after China called on the US to rescind an invitation that could sour relations with Beijing.

The Tibetan spiritual leader has been in Washington for an 11-day Buddhist ritual. Thousands of expatriate Tibetans joined a 76th birthday celebration Wednesday for the Dalai Lama, who recently relinquished leadership of Tibet's government-in-exile.

The White House said that during the 45-minute private session in the Map Room, Obama "underscored the importance of the protection of human rights of Tibetans in China." In a statement issued after the meeting, the White House also said Obama reiterated his support for the preservation of Tibet's religious, cultural and linguistic traditions.

Obama restated US policy that it does not support Tibetan independence, a goal that the Dalai Lama said he also does not seek.

In a nod to the criticism from Beijing, Obama also stressed to the Dalai Lama that he considers a cooperative relationship between the United States and China to be important, according to the White House statement.

In remarks after the meeting forwarded by Kate Saunders from the International Campaign for Tibet, the Dalai Lama said of his visit with Obama: "Firstly we developed a very close sort of feeling for each other." He said Obama expressed his concern over basic human values, such as human rights and religious freedoms. "So naturally he shows genuine concern about suffering in Tibet and other places."

A Chinese crackdown led the Dalai Lama to flee into exile in India in 1959. China says he's welcome to return if he drops his separatist activities, accepts Tibet as an inalienable part of China and recognizes Taiwan as a province of China.

Hours before the Dalai Lama's arrival, the Chinese Foreign Ministry urged the White House to cancel the visit.

"We firmly oppose any foreign official to meet with the Dalai Lama in any form," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said in a statement posted on the ministry's website.

"We request the US side to honour its serious commitment that recognizes Tibet as part of China and opposes Tibet independence," Hong said.

The White House kept the meeting low-key, closing it from news reporters and photographers. It chose the Map Room for the visit instead of the Oval Office, which is reserved for visiting heads of state.

The visit comes less than 10 days before US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is expected to visit the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen. Vice President Joseph Biden is also scheduled to visit China this summer, followed by a trip to Washington by his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.

Obama had been criticized by pro-Tibetan activists for putting off an invitation during the Dalai Lama's stay in the capital. White House officials said the president's schedule had been occupied with debt-limit negotiations with congressional leaders.

Obama last met the Dalai Lama in February 2010.
